As the local council of the California Reading Association, we strive to provide you with the most up-to-date information and techniques in teaching reading and writing. Membership in GSDRA is open to all teachers, librarians, parents, administrators, paraprofessionals, students, and others interested in the teaching of reading and the promotion of literacy.
Our council hosts two reading conferences a year, one in the fall and the second in the winter. Members and nonmembers are encouraged to attend both conferences. In March, GSDRA hosts the Authors' Fair which is open to schools all over San Diego County.
Welcome to the 2011-2012 School year!
The Greater San Diego Reading Association is an affiliate of the California Reading Association. GSDRA serves teachers and educators in all of San Diego County. With your membership in GSDRA, you are also a member of CRA. Membership dues are $40.00 a year, which entitles you to discounted prices for all GSDRA and CRA events that are held throughout the year. You will also receive a quarterly professional journal, the CA READER from CRA, along with the GSDRA newsletter that can be found online at this site.
Our first even this year will be our Fall Conference held at the San Diego County Office of Education on October 29, 2011. This conference will feature a Literacy and Geography Connection. The event is open to all teachers/student teachers/librarians, and administrators.
Keep connected with GSRDA all year long! We look forward to seeing you at ALL of our events. Check out the calendar for further events and meeting dates. We hope you have a great school year and look to us for literacy events and teacher networking as a member of the Greater San Diego Reading Association.
Sincerely,
Maureen Begley
President of GSDRA
